Meteoritic
Gemstone Peridot

Pallasite Meteorite

Featured
during the pilot episode of Meteorite Men
as the
"Alpha Site"
We
have
been harvesting a few gemstone peridot from the Admire Pallasite
Meteorite. Only approximately 1% of the olivine crystals are
facetable. We are
trying to maximize the size of the faceted stone so a few of these crystals may have
small flaws.
These
flaws will be hidden once the stone is in it's setting.
You will also notice that these faceted crystals contain inclusions.
The
Admire Meteoritic peridot must have inclusions in the
crystals, which is
what
distinquishes them from terresterial (Earth)
peridot.
Celestial peridot
has a hardness of 6.5 and is possibly more
brittle than terrestrial peridot. We recommend that the stones be set
professionally using laser welding technology and not crimp settings.
